FANCY Date Night

Sadly, I thought after graduating from grad school would mean I would have more time for ME. Unfortunately, it just means more time to work overtime. Thus I've basically been living in comfy work appropriate clothes and NO MAKEUP. This isn't because I feel like I don't need makeup, I just don't see the point.
Sorry for the sorority pose, but I think my arms don't look flabby for once! yay!!

Well, The Boyfriend broke the no makeup trend by taking me out, fancy style. It was Restaurant Week in Dallas, where many "higher end" restaurants in Dallas participate by creating Restaurant Week specific menus for a deal. We went to Stephan Pyles to take advantage of Restaurant Week, but as a sweet touch, The Boyfriend decided it was a perfect way to celebrate my graduating grad school.
We had already finished the appetizers before I realized I had a camera on me and started taking pictures of the awesome food.

My yummy cod entree and perfectly paired white wine:

If you're curious, dress from Marc New York by Andrew Marc, necklace from Charlotte Russe, purse from The Limited, earrings from Swarovski, both rings from James Avery and shoes (even though you can't see them) from this outfit
The Boyfriend had a Pepper-Mint Julep with Jalapeno liqueur
I had a cucumber martini while waiting for our table. SUPER refreshing and yummmmmm. I loved it so much we had to go back to the bar to order another one before we could leave. This is my new goal in life: Find this recipe!!!
Whatchoo lookin' at???

Breakfast Indulgence

I got this recipe from a girlfriend. They are the best muffins ever. . . . . I like to make them mini muffin size so I don't feel so bad when I eat 20 million billion of them at once.

White Chocolate Raspberry Muffins
Makes about 48 mini muffins, or 1 dozen regular muffins

Ingredients:
~1 package of 8 oz cream cheese, softened
~ 1 cup sugar
~2 eggs
~1 tsp vanilla extract
~1.5 cup flour
~2 tsp baking powder
~1/2 tsp salt
~1 cup fresh raspberries
~ 1/2 c vanilla or white chocolate chips (but I use 1 cup. Tee hee)

Directions:
1) In a large bowl, beat cream cheese adn sugar until smooth.
2) Add eggs and beat well after each addition.
3) Stir in vanilla.
4) Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt
5) Add to the cream cheese mixture just until blended
6) Fold in raspberries and chips
7) fill muffin cups. Bake at 375 F for about 15 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out dry.

SOOOOOO YUMMMMM

TGIF!

In my last post, I talked about how I was sick. . . . the culprit? Bad eggs. Yup, if you've been paying attention to the news, half a billion eggs have been recalled for salmonella. . . . . 6 of those recalled eggs just so happened to be eggs that The Boyfriend and I ingested.  Yay salmonella. . . . . .

So the reason why I'm so happy it's Friday? No reason really, other than I didn't feel like crap today for the first time since Monday!!! Yay!!!
White shirt and jeans from Ann Taylor, black vest and shoes from Taiwan, necklace from Urban Outfitters, tote bag from Boy Meets Girl, sunglasses from Forever 21

Oh yeah, I guess today also wasn't so bad because I didn't work overtime today. Unfortunately I took home plenty of work for the weekend. Oh well, at least I was able to carry around my work in my super cute Boy Meets Girl tote bag. Silver lining. . . . . silver lining. . . . .

So I guess in celebration (or more likely because The Boyfriend's family is coming into town any second now and I wanted to look "with it") I decided to wear my brand new cloth necklace I got from Urban Outfitters. I hadn't really gotten on board with the whole cloth necklace trend, only because I couldn't justify spending $20-$30 to tie shoestrings around your neck, but for some reason, this necklace spoke to me (i.e. I HAD to have it and I'm too proud to admit that I caved and accepted the trend).

To make the day even girlier, I went grocery shopping for no other reason that to buy flowers (and cream cheese . . . meh, we can forget that last part). I have always wanted to go shopping for flowers, but they always seemed too frivolous, especially in today's economic times. However, as I mentioned earlier, The Boyfriend's family is in town, so I figured now's as good a time as ever to get some.

I have come to the realization that I'm pretty bad about flower arrangements. And by bad, I mean horrible.  Even though it was fun buying the flowers, I think they look kinda lame after I cut them and put them in vases. Maybe I'm just being hyper critical.

Meh, they'll die in a few days anyway. . . . .

I apologize for my lack of blogging . Last week I was busy with my LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL EVER and work. I thought with the extra time of not going to school the end of last week/beginning of this week, I would have more time to blog, however last week was kind of insane, plus this week I was fortunate enough to get either food poisoning or a stomach bug. blech. At least this means I'm not at work! Added bonus, now I can blog between bites of toast. Yay toast. . . .

So I guess I'll end this entry by posting pictures of some random reasons why I haven't been blogging lately.

Didn't feel like studying for finals, or going into work to put in some more overtime. . . . so I went shopping. Found this great jewelry tree stand.

After organizing my jewelry, got in an organization mood, so I organized my shoes too.
Had my favorite salad at Olivers and tried some of  The Boyfriend's sweet potato fries (this is NOT where I got food poisoning from! I ate there last weekend)

Went back home to Denton so I could drive to Houston to drop my brother off at college and help him move into his new dorm room.

Took my last final/wrote my last paper for school. Yayyyyy. . . .

Went to a Texas Rangers baseball game. We beat the Red Sox 10 to 9. Great Game!! Then we watched fireworks afterward.

Watched the clouds off the back of super shiny cars.

And finally, toast and diet Sierra Mist. Yay stomach bug. :P

Mood Polish

Apologies for the lack of activity here! I've been stuck in the office, plus it's the final stretch of the summer semester. Though I miss having blog time, I really don't mind it. Why? Because I am officially DONE with school next week!!!!!! Whoooo!!!

So I'm not a huge nail polish girl, only because I have a really bad habit of picking at EVERYTHING, and chipped nail polish is the worst. I HAVE to have at it!! But this summer, apparently, has been the summer for super bright nail colors. I'm a sucker for colorful things so I decided to give it a try.
Imagine my excitement when I found MOOD nail polish!!! Claire's was having a "Buy One Get One Half Off" sale, so I bought a blue/purple and a peach/orange color.

I tried the peach/orange color first. Or, as Claire's labeled it, "bored/excited." While I was disappointed that the nail polish dried matte (the bottle said nothing of the sort and I haven't gotten on board with that trend), it was nothing a shiny topcoat couldn't fix. Another issue was that the nail polish dried SUPER fast, making it hard to get an even coat. But I have to admit, the actual colors were really pretty.
So this is how it works. When your body temperature is warmer, the nail polish turns peach, or "bored."

Then when your body teperature becomes colder, it turns orange, or "excited."
Too hot for me it to change naturally, so I "sped up the process" with ice. You can see the colors changing. Neato.

Of course, that means most of the time I'm "bored," since it's summertime in Texas, but I'm "excited" when I'm at work, since they always crank up the A/C.

Uhm, excited at work? Claire's has this backwards.
