Officially an Old Fogey.

by | | 0 comments
Today, while staring at my computer at work, glassy eyed and bored, I get a text from my "baby" brother (he's 19).

Baby bro: I'm about to sit in on a meeting with MTVU!

My response: What's that?

I could just imagine my brother shaking his head at my cluelessness. I'm now the weird mom/older sister figure who tries to be "wid it" but thinks Bieber Fever is the new swine flu.

To make matters worse, the baby bro texted back: MTV University

Uhm, yeah, that doesn't really help. Googled it. . . . . still clueless. . . . . Wikipedia'd it. . . . a little less clueless, but nonetheless . . . .clueless.

Finally I asked The Boyfriend via our work IMs (yes, I work with The Boyfriend, but he works in a totally different department, so don't judge)

Here's our conversation:
The Boyfriend: Like the MTV for school thing?

Rosalie:
yeah, why is it special?

The Boyfriend:
Dunno
Geared toward college junk I dunno

Yeah. . . . Thanks for the clarification.

I apologize for my lack of blogging . Last week I was busy with my LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL EVER and work. I thought with the extra time of not going to school the end of last week/beginning of this week, I would have more time to blog, however last week was kind of insane, plus this week I was fortunate enough to get either food poisoning or a stomach bug. blech. At least this means I'm not at work! Added bonus, now I can blog between bites of toast. Yay toast. . . .

So I guess I'll end this entry by posting pictures of some random reasons why I haven't been blogging lately.

Didn't feel like studying for finals, or going into work to put in some more overtime. . . . so I went shopping. Found this great jewelry tree stand.

After organizing my jewelry, got in an organization mood, so I organized my shoes too.
Had my favorite salad at Olivers and tried some of  The Boyfriend's sweet potato fries (this is NOT where I got food poisoning from! I ate there last weekend)

Went back home to Denton so I could drive to Houston to drop my brother off at college and help him move into his new dorm room.

Took my last final/wrote my last paper for school. Yayyyyy. . . .

Went to a Texas Rangers baseball game. We beat the Red Sox 10 to 9. Great Game!! Then we watched fireworks afterward.

Watched the clouds off the back of super shiny cars.

And finally, toast and diet Sierra Mist. Yay stomach bug. :P

Summer Reading. . . . . or not.

I don't have much time anymore to read for pleasure, though I still love going shopping for books. My father always encouraged us to read the classics, and every summer growing up we'd stock up on books to read while on summer break. To this day, the classics I read as a child are still some of my favorite reads.

So lately, I've been wanting to find some of my favorite books in leather bound covers, preferably with gold gilded edges so that I could both enjoy rereading my childhood favorites and use them as a way to add elegance to a bookcase or nightstand. And who doesn't like to SEEM elegant, even if they fart and scratch their butt when no one's looking?

A few months ago, I watched the movie The Jane Austen Book Club. Alright, alright, I mainly watched it because Hugh Dancy was not only in it, but he had a few scenes wearing biker shorts. **swoon** His father is a philosophy professor at UT Austin, which is my alma mater, so we are totally meant to be. Claire Danes better watch out.

Anyway, the only reason why I mention the movie is that Hugh Dancy's character joins this book club to hit on a woman he's interested in, so he buys a giant book with Jane Austen's 7 novels compiled together. And what would I happen to find in the sale section at Barnes and Noble, but a compiled book of Jane Austen's 7 novels in a leather bound book with gold gilded edges. And it was only $19.99. Pride and Prejudice is one of my FAVORITES, so I snatched it up.
Totally meant to be, I tell ya.

Reading this bad boy will be my first project after I graduate.

Reasons why my weekend rocked (and sucked)

Why my weekend rocked:

~Had the time to brew a perfectly tasty cup o' joe

~Didn't have to follow a dress code (lace button down shirt from Forever 21, navy tank and skirt from Zara, sunglasses from Target, Wanted boots)
~Had fun showing off/wearing my fun and flowery sunglasses.

~Met up with The Boyfriend for lunch at J's Breakfast and Burger in Addison. (his unhealthy bacon cheese burger and fries, and my healthy, but still yummy, grilled chicken sandwich and fruit)

~Used a restaurant.com certificate for the first time ever (if you eat out as much as The Boyfriend and I, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this site. GO NOW!)

~Grabbed a late night beer (or two. . . . or three. . . or more. . . ) with The Boyfriend and some friends (Sorry, had too much fun to take a picture. . . . But I lurve me some Belgian beer. I'm a new fan of Blanche de Bruxelles)

Why my weekend sucked:

~Accidentally spilled coffee all over my favorite tank top and new white shirt during this little photo shoot. :/

~100+ degree Texas heat

~Had to go into work to put in some OT. Poo

~Accidentally shattered one of my nice wine glasses. (Was too pissed to take a picture of it)

~Had to study for an Excel based class that I'm miles (and miles and miles) behind in. Too bad Excel refused to respond for an hour.

So, all in all I had a pretty well rounded weekend, if I must say.
